To use any piece of music that is in copyright, you must first get permission. The type of permission required depends on how you wish to use the music.
Music can be used in four broad categories under copyright law: Adaptation, Recording, Reproduction, and Public Performance. Depending on where and how someone is going to use a song, there are mechanical rights and synchronization rights that have to be negotiated, and the various parties involved may include the songwriter, publisher, and record company, usually holder of the master rights. You may not be aware that the sound recording copyright symbol is represented by the letter “P” enclosed in a circle. The copyright notice of sound recordings should include the three following elements: the sound recording copyright symbol, the year of first publication of the sound recording, and the name of the owner of copyright in the sound recording, or an abbreviation by which the name can be recognized. If the producer of the sound recording is named on the media labels or containers, and if no other name appears in conjunction with the notice, the producer’s name shall be considered a part of the notice. The following types of music cannot be used for public performance: - Illegal Downloads (from P2P Networks etc.) - Unlicensed Internet Radio Services - Licensed On Demand / Interactive music services. As these are services that let users play specific tracks in an order of their choosing or to create customised ‘radio’ stations playing a range of music / artists they have selected, there is no way to pass royalty fees to the artist.
The following sources of music can be used: - Legally purchased downloads on condition that the usage complies with the Digital Rights Management (DRM) rules accompanying the download. For example, if the download is restricted to being held and played back from a specific PC or MP3 player, the public performance has to be sourced from that PC or MP3 player. If the download rules allow the track to be burnt to a CD that CD can then be used for public performance in the same way as any conventional commercial CD.
In the UK, two organisations grant music licenses. It is usually the case that you will have to obtain music licenses from both organisations and therefore you will have to pay two sets of fees. The first organisation is Phonographic Performance Limited, who enforce performance rights in sound recordings and performances. The second organisation is the Performing Rights Society, who enforce performance rights in music and lyrics. To arrange the permission to get a music license there are several resources on the web that can help to direct you to the copyright owners. You should provide as much information about the music as possible, including the title and writer/s. They will also be able to find out who the copyright owner is for a particular song or musical work. The cost of the music licenses varies depending on the size of the premises in question, the type of premises in question and the nature and extent to which music is used. A license can cost as little as 14 pence per day to play music. The consequences of not having both music licenses is that you will be breaching copyright law. This can lead to a civil action being taken by Phonographic Performance Limited and/or the Performing Rights Society. A successful action against you will be expensive in terms of damages that you may have to pay and the costs of the opposition that you may have to settle.

It has been two years when the United States was shocked by the unexpected financial crisis that caused hundreds and thousands of people to lose their jobs and almost everything that they have. People were depressed and outrage at the same time because no one was prepared for the crisis – even the government. For the past two years, the government has been consistent in providing assistance to all of the unemployed citizens of the United States. The task was difficult but job centers were created wherein people were given job opportunities either on other states or other countries. Government agencies also assisted in relocation which included ticket and visa arrangement if necessary. While doing all this, the Senate committee has submitted a proposal for the unemployment benefits table and rates to be revised. Previously, the unemployment benefits were already set in place however because of the huge amount of people who lost their jobs, the Senate committee has decided to release the unemployment benefits table. In this table, jobs are categorized as beginners, intermediate, supervisory and managerial level. People will know which category they fall into by their last known position. Each job also has rates that each person will receive as their unemployment benefits rates. The rates mentioned will be the weekly claim unemployed people can recover from their local state cashier clerk’s office. According to the Senate committee, the table with rates was released to avoid any confusion between states on to what percentage should be allocated for what job. The nation however has mixed reactions on this news. Some were thankful as they did not even think their job description will get unemployment benefits however some were annoyed as they have just started receiving their claims. The Senate committee, on the other hand, has seen the new table and rates will be able to serve its purpose as some of the unemployed citizens are trying to take advantage of what the old ruling was regarding unemployment.

Celebrating All-Hallows-Eve (the night before All Hallows Day) is more commonly known as Halloween today. The Halloween Countdown is a favorite past-time of many people today. Most people choose not to celebrate Halloween for what it was originally meant for, but celebrate it for the fun that is had on Halloween. The holiday of Halloween has a much different meaning today than it once was when it was originally created. The concept behind Halloween rarely is even an after-thought for most people that celebrate Halloween. However, there are some people that still celebrate Halloween for what it was originally created for which are the spirits (both good spirits and bad spirits).
The Halloween Countdown was originally used by the people in the sixteenth century to welcome their dead loved ones back into the mortal realm. Often during the welcoming, there were bad spirits that chose to follow the loved ones back to the mortal realm. To ward off the bad spirits, the people dressed in masks and costumes to pretend they were bad spirits as well. They believed that pretending to be a bad spirit would scare away the other bad spirits that were not welcome. This celebration of welcoming home dead loved ones was often celebrated with food, games, drinks and dancing.

What You Should Know About Going On A Job Interview

Job interviews are typically the last stage in the hiring process, used to evaluate the best candidates. Interviews are usually preceded by the evaluation of supplied résumés, selecting a small number of candidates who seem to be the most desirable (shortlisting).
A company seeking to fill a single position will typically interview a handful of candidates - perhaps as many as ten if the level of application has been high. While job interviews are considered to be one of the most useful tools for evaluating potential employees, they also demand significant resources from the employer and have been demonstrated to be notoriously unreliable in identifying the optimal person for the job.
Multiple rounds of job interviews may be used where there are many candidates or the job is particularly challenging or desirable; earlier rounds may involve fewer staff from the employers and will typically be much shorter and less in-depth. A common intitial interview form is the phone interview, a job interview conducted over the telephone. This is especially common when the candidates do not live near the employer and has the advantage of keeping costs low for both sides.
Once all candidates have had job interviews, the employer typically selects the most desirable candidate and begins the negotiation of a job offer.
A typical job interview has a single candidate meeting with between one and three persons representing the employer; the potential supervisor of the employee is usually involved in the interview process. A larger interview panel will often have a specialized human resources worker. The meeting can be as short as 15 minutes; job interviews usually last less than two hours. The bulk of the job interview will be the interviewers asking the candidate questions about their history, personality, work style and other relevant factors to the job. The candidate will usually be given a chance to ask any questions at the end of the interview. The primary purpose is to assess the candidate’s suitability for the job, although the candidate will also be assessing the corporate culture and demands of the job on offer.
Most job interviews are formal; the larger the firm, the more formal and structured the interview will tend to be. Candidates generally dress slightly better than they will be expected to wear to work, with a suit being appropriate for a white-collar job interview, but jeans being appropriate for an interview as a plumber.
In many countries including most of North America, Western Europe and Australasia, employment equity laws forbid discrimination based on a number of classes, such as race, gender, age, and marital status. Asking questions about these protected areas in a job interview is generally considered discriminatory, and constitutes an illegal hiring practice. Asking questions that touch on these areas, such as “Are you willing to travel/relocate?” (possibly affected by marital status) or “When did you graduate from school?” (indicative of age) is still usually possible.
There is extant data which puts in question the value of Job Interviews as a tool for selecting employees. Where the aim of a job interview is ostensibily to choose a candidate who will perform well in the job role, other methods of selection provide greater predictive power and often lower costs. Furthermore, given the unstructured approach of most interviews they often have almost no useful predictive power of employee success.
