And when you thought you can get away with taxes…

Everywhere you go, you will get taxed. Be it in the coffee shop, bookstore, internet cafe shopping mall, etc - almost everywhere (except for your own toilet)! I bet you get very frustrated when it’s that time of the month wherein you need to sit down and fill in your income tax form. The government imposes these taxes so that they can maintain order, cleanliness and avoid any manipulation in terms of the cost of sold goods. A country without taxes might be ideal but then do you think people will just shell out money if in case you need to fill potholes on the road? Or build a bridge to connect two cities? Or construct a new school or hospital? I doubt. Aside from those types of taxes, income taxes are also a must. This is necessary because you are using the public hospitals built and provided for by the government. Imagine how can they cure people if they will always be limited with resources? This is also one of the reasons why unemployment benefits taxable – not because the government to have a share from your crumbs but it is because it wants to still take care of you. How about if I end up being unemployed? Being unemployed do not mean you will not get sick or you will not be using public facilities right? So I guess for your question; do i pay taxes on unemployment? Yes because it is a social responsibility to do so. We all need to share responsibilities in terms of making our country prosper and being unemployed does not count you out because you are still a citizen of the country where you are in. Please do not forget to submit your income tax forms to local Internal Revenue office. Be responsible.
