Best Cigar Cities

March 5th, 2010 by admin

If you have been looking for a cigar friendly city where you can enjoy cigars while entertaining yourself, then the choice is easy. If you are looking for the Cuban cigar culture within the US, only one city will come to mind. If you are looking for the history of cigars, you may think of another city. So, to narrow it down, we have selected three popular cigar cities with these criteria in mind. The first city would be Vegas. As everyone knows, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Cigar smoking in casinos is legal, but is only permitted in the gaming areas. Smoking indoors in Vegas, like many other cities has been banned. There are many reasons we picked Vegas as a top Cigar City. There are a number of cigar conventions and trade shows hosted throughout the year. And, most casinos provide free cocktails for their patrons, but some also provide free cigars.

The second city we choose is Tampa, Florida. Tampa is famous for cigars and is very popular with many cigar smokers. There are also a number of cigar makers that live in this area as well as TV and Radio personalities. If you are looking for History, Ybor City near downtown Tampa was once considered the Cigar Capital of the World. In Tampa, old cigar factories have been rehabbed into retail, dining, drinking and smoking establishments. The area is now a popular entertainment district. Ybor is rich in cigar history and the city museum society has and annual marsh wheeling cigars festival. The state of Florida has also smoking restrictions in restaurants and indoor areas, but retail tobacco shops have been excluded.

Our third choice is the ever so popular Miami, Florida. Besides South Beach, which has a well known cigar culture where premium cigars are sold at cafes and hotels, the most popular part of Tampa would be Little Havana. Little Havana is deeply rooted in Cuban culture. There you can find many Cuban restaurants and stores. You can also find cigars stores owned by Cuban immigrants that make and sell their own brands, though the Cuban seed is grown in the Dominican Republic. Here you will find the closest cigars to Cuban cigars available in the US.
