WoW Tips for Playing a Warlock

Every class comes with its own set of WoW tips. If you plan to play the popular Warlock class, then finding the right set of directions can help you tremendously. Know what to expect from the Warlock’s arsenal of abilities as well as the best techniques for optimization. These WoW tips can help your gaming experience by giving you the head start you need to excel with the Warlock class.

The Influence of Warlock ArmorWarlocks are excellent casters and can handle themselves well in combat. That is as long as they are equipped with good armor and a weapon.  Look for armor sets and pieces that will increase your strengths while decreasing your natural weaknesses.  The key bonuses to look for should include spirit, intelligence and stamina. When your character is well equipped, success in player versus environment and player versus player will come much easier.  Although armor WoW tips are extremely helpful, they cannot make up for a lack of knowledge on the part of the player.

In order to play an effective Warlock you must understand what a damage over time spell is and how to best use it. Damage over time, sometimes referred to as a “dot,” is a spell cast on an enemy that hits them for a certain quantity of damage over a specified length of time. The damage is inflicted at intervals (often called a “tick”). Damage over time WoW tips should state that you cannot expect to hit an enemy for a great deal of damage at once with a Warlock. Instead, expect to damage the opponent over time.  This can help greatly when working with a group who is also trying to attack the same enemy.

Use your Pets Wisely

Warlocks come with their own minions, or pets. The most popular of these is the easily distinguishable Voidwalker. These pets can watch out for the Warlock by helping to keep enemies away. When an enemy manages to slip through the frontlines and sneak up on the caster, the pet must act quickly to stop the attack before the caster runs out of hit points.

Avoid an Attack

WoW tips for casters in general should include something about staying away from the front lines of an attack. The tanks and DPSers are the classes that should be in an enemies face taking the hits. The Warlock and other casters should remain further back, where they are less likely to take damage due to their lower hit points and armor.

These WoW tips will help you get started with your new Warlock character. An understanding of how the class works can take you far as you learn to excel with each new ability. Remember to utilize your pets and avoid the front line damage that is meant for tanks.  Many of these WoW tips can also be applied to other caster classes, so learning the methods behind them can help you get a leg up in the game.
